Another family outting!

Yesterday, our "Alden, family of four," went to Galveston to visit Nana and watch the USS Texas become commisioned into the US Navy. This is a 2.8 Billion dollar nuclear sub becoming "Christened" as a tradition in which nautical vessels are officially introduced into service. First Lady, Laura Bush was the sponsor who broke the champagne bottle over the sub. This event was "invitation only" and my invite must have been lost in the mail! (just kidding!) For more details, view this website: http://usstexas.org/index.htm.

Because this event was not open to the public, Nana invited us to watch from her office in Galveston. Nana (Lori) works directly across from where the event was taking place. We were able to view everything, take some photos, and experience an extremely close fly-by from some F18s jetts!!! They were so low, the ground (and our bodies) shook from the noise! It was really cool because we felt it before we actually saw the jetts overhead. They flew by twice, and both times were incredible! The Secret Service were everywhere!!! It was cool seeing them all in the water around us.

Afterwards, Nana took us to lunch on the seawall. We arrived at the perfect time because as we ate, it started storming out and people from the event started to arrive causing quite a long line at the entrance.

What a wonderful outting, and as usual it was great to see Nana!!!
