Blast from the past....hahahahahaha!

I'll try to add some updated photos on Sunday. The boys have been sick and not very photogenic (runny noses!) I just wanted to post a quick comment about Logan's progress in school. He received his report card yesterday and (once again) made honor role. He has made honor role every year, every 6 weeks! He also scored above average on both CogAT and his Iowa tests. Here are his stats.....

CogAT:
Scored higher than 95% of fifth grade students nationally on verbal reasoning
...higher than 92% of fifth grade students nationally on quantitative ability
...higher than 88% of fifth grade students nationally on nonverbal ability
composite national percentile rank of 94% on total reasoning ability!!!

Iowa test:
Logan's composite national percentile rank is 94% (scored higher than 94% of fifth graders nationally) exact quote..."His overall achievement appears to be well above average for fifth grade." :) out of 14 tests, he scored 75%-98%!!!

He also completes his work first every day and gets to help out in the Life Skills class or the library to keep him busy. I honestly think he should be in the GT program because this has been happening every year. They tell me they have been testing him, but I have my doubts! Poor Liam has VERY big shoes to fill! (we're not worried!)

The Prairie dog area is so cool!

The kids can pop up under these "bubbles" to watch the little-dogs in action. Here is Logan.

Liberty again!

So cool, I will post 3 pictures!

This is a bald eagle. He was not even behind a cage. Apparently because they are the national bird (found out bald eagle beat out the turkey for that win...seriously!) bald eagles are not allowed to be kept in captivity. The Houston Zoo hit the jackpot because this eagle, named Liberty, was found wounded. He had a broken wing and gun shots! It's also illegal to shoot a bald eagle, so I'm not sure of the story behind that! Anyway, the zoo was allowed to keep him after nursing him back to health because he will never fly again. He would never survive outside of captivity. This is why they do not have to keep him in an actual cage. He can't fly away! Very rare opportunity to see one up-close like this, everyone needs to go check him out! fyi....his wing span is 6 feet long!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't come out very clear, but...

This is a mommy orangatang playing with her baby. (I guess all the animals had a "busy" winter judging by all the babies!) Everyone was "awwwwwing," and "ohhhhhhing," it was too sweet. The baby ran around and played. All of a sudden it ran to it's mom and gave her a huge hug! She then proceeded to roll it around on the ground several feet like it was a ball. Apparently this is how they play, but we did not come home and try that with Liam!

An example of the baby's height...

Here he is standing next to his "full grown" mommy, and he's over 6 feet tall...WOW!!!

I want him!

This is a baby giraffe. Apparently he was born at (I think) 200 or 220 lbs. He was about 6'4 at birth! He was so cute! We also found out that full grown giraffes are tall enough to look into a 2nd story floor! I think we may have seen one even taller than that, one of them was super tall! Such odd animals, they really don't even seem real. They appear like something you would see in a fictional movie. I loved them...I wonder if my homeowner's association would approve of me keeping one!

Liam running wild!

A good portion of the day was spent trying to catch Liam! He took off running every time something got his attention.

The Houston Zoo!!!

We enjoyed the Texas Winter day today by taking the kiddos to the zoo. This thing was really cool. This clear tube ran under a huge tank with many different species of fish. The kids were able to crawl through it and see the fish "under-water." Logan tried to bring Liam with him, but Liam got upset. Maybe he's claustrophobic like his mom!

Logan rocking the camp-out!

Ok, William will blog the remaining photos because he was there! He and Logan went (far) and camped with the Boy-scouts. I missed them so much. It was very weird, and quiet, and lonely at home! Liam kept me company. I was so glad to see them on Sunday...until I found out they came home wearing the same clothes they left wearing last Friday....yuck!!! I honestly told them I probably would not have done well if I camped with them.

No electrical outlets in the bathroom? How the heck do you dry your hair? Where do I plug my Ipod??? Ok, I've come to realize I am no longer a camper. I need wireless internet connection, "Wired" magazinne, Guitar Hero III, working bathrooms, a television to watch my Foxnews when I go to bed...and a microwave for my microwave egg-poachers my buddy, Rhonda, gave me for my birthday! Camping sucks! (and it smells bad!)

Snack Time!!!

Austin & Caleb's Nana (Vickie!) brought snacks over for the kiddos. They took a break and enjoyed apples, carrotts, celery, and crackers. They relaxed for about 5 minutes? After snack time, the party continued! I'm sure all the kiddos will sleep well! They played so much! Thank God for Texas Winters!
